How Do I Automatically Refresh Reports in SQL Reporting Server 2008 R2?

During a recent SQL Server Reporting Services Consultancy the client asked "How do I get SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2 to automatically refresh the report, when viewed within Report Manager?"

Solution

To achieve this the answer is quite simple, as one can use the reports' AutoRefresh property.
  1. Load up the Properties Pane, by either using the view menu or by pressing F4 on the keyboard
  2. In the Properties dropdown at the top select Report
  3. Find the Other Category within the Properties Pane.
  4. In the space to the right of the AutoRefresh property enter the number of seconds that has to relapse before the report is refreshed.

Note:
A word of caution when using this.  The lower the number entered the more often the report will refresh, which could have an negative impact on the performance of the underlying database as the queries that drives the report will be constantly executed.
